LUT School of Engineering Science created the PhD Communication Workbook for LUT University’s doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers. The content is useful also for all researchers and experts looking to brush up on their communication skills.
The PHD Communication Workbook mainly concentrates on communication aimed at audiences outside academia. Many of the concrete tips will also help to succeed in communicating with the fellow researchers.
The workbook shows on a concrete way how to write a key message, get started on Twitter or create the communication plan. Dean Riina Salmimies says that the workbook is designed to inspire to communicate.
“Communication is part of every expert’s work, whether they’re a researcher, industrial engineer or government official. It’s never too late to get to know the basics of communication. Science communication in particular is our societal responsibility as researchers”, Salmimies says.
The book was created with the communications agency Kaskas Media.
