Deadline for Registration: People and Planet -conference
31.10.2021
The international “People and Planet –From Theory to Solutions” conference will be held from November 8 to 10, 2021 in the European Green Capital 2021 Lahti, Finland. This multidisciplinary event aims to identify solutions that academic research and practices promoting planetary health can provide to global challenges.
The conference brings together actors from different areas of society: researchers and experts in the fields of environment and health, decision-makers and students.
The relationship between nature and humans is even more visible now after this pandemic year. Human well-being depends on nature, but we still don’t know enough about the health benefits that nature provides on the population level. The People and Planet conference will showcase the latest research results and invites cities to discuss these ever more essential themes, says Saara Vauramo, the Programme director of the European Green Capital 2021 Lahti.
The speakers are top experts from Finnish and international universities, research institutes and projects. They address the impact of climate change on human beings and health, as well as the human impact on the climate and the environment.Speakers include Academy Professor Markku Kulmala (Academy of Finland, the University of Helsinki)and Secretary General Liisa Rohweder (World Wildlife Fund Finland). The event will also address the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The conference will be held as a hybrid event or entirely online; the final decision will be announced on the first week of September. It builds on the legacy of the Helsinki Planetary Health Conference in 2019,and will continue in the spirit of the Helsinki Declaration in emphasizing the urgency for action.
Deadline for registration is October 31, 2021.
